October - Inter-patrol Competition
Once Scouts can demonstrate an acquired skill, they should be given opportunities to do something fun with it that provides a challenge that illustrates how the skill is used, and an opportunity requiring them to rely upon the skill in order to complete the task. The inter-patrol competition camp allows patrols to demonstrate their skills in a competitive but friendly setting.

December - Wilderness Survival Camp

Scouts who attend the Wilderness Survival camping trip will learn valuable wilderness survival skills, including building fires without matches, shelter building, signaling, and how to find food and water in the wilderness.  Scouts who wish to earn the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge can complete the entire badge in the course of the campout. Please review the Boys' Life Guide to Camping for cold weather tips.

January - Climbing Lock-in & Caving Trip
Climbing Lock-in
The scouts spend a night at Vertical Rock, a local climbing facility, to learn rock climbing safety and techniques. Scouts can elect to earn the Rock Climbing MB.
Family Ski Trip

Our yearly family event, this adventure allows for fun fellowship for all scouts and their families. Lodging at a ski resort in West Virginia, we enjoy the slopes by day and hot chocolate at night. This is a trip that makes lasting memories.

February - Caving Trip

Working as teams, scouts learn to navigate the quiet underworld in three separate caves located in West Virginia. Given the time frame, this is the one adventure where scouts sleep in cabins as a crew. After a hot shower and a good wash, the party enjoys pizza at a local restaurant.

March - New Scout Camp & Gettysburg Camp

New Scout Campout

This is for new scouts that has just crossed over or joined a troop. It is designed to introduce these Scouts to the Troop camping experience.  New Scouts have an opportunity to camp with their fellow Scouts, become familiar with leaders, and preview what they can do at summer camp.

Gettysburg Camp

Scouts will get the opportunity to learn about America's past by hiking the trails, visiting the battle sites, and seeing the exhibits.

April - Shooting Sports Weekend

Organized and run by certified adult range safety officers and instructors, scouts can participate in a variety of shooting activities during the weekend including rifle, shotgun, black powder, and archery. Interested scouts can work towards earning the Rifle Shooting, Shotgun Shooting, and Archery Merit Badges.

May - Memorial Day Canoe Trip & Zipline

Memorial Day Canoe Trip

The annual canoe trip is a three-day and two-night excursion along the Cacapon River (local /kəˈkeɪpən/ kə-KAY-pən; meaning "Medicine Waters"), which is located in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle region. All scouts wishing to attend must complete three preparatory training sessions. Interested scouts can work towards the Canoeing Merit Badge. New scouts are not able to attend.

July - BSA Summer Camp (July 19-25)

Summer camp is challenging, adventurous, it’s full of possibility.  Outside the normal support structure of the family, away from the solitary distractions of modernity, a scout must take care of himself and cooperate with his peers. He does all this in a supportive environment that permits failure without compromising safety. Your scout will be challenged to expand his abilities, to accept and offer help, and to function cooperatively in everyday tasks. Camp is an opportunity to let your scout to go a little – let him stand on his own two feet, it’s an expression of confidence and  trust in his abilities. For more information on the benefits of scout camp, read the Harris Interactive Study report.
